Maybe Brodie recognized two Richmond athletes, Camryn Rogers and Evan Dunfee, who represented Canada at this year’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Mayor Brodie highlighted their athletic journey and accomplishments, including Dunfee’s bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics and gold in this year’s World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, and Rogers’ gold medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic in addition to winning her second World Championship at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this year. |

That Tree Survival Securities continue to be released on a phased approach, with 90% of the security returned at substantial completion of construction upon submission of a Post-Construction Assessment Report, and the remaining 10% released one year later following the submission of a Final Post-Construction Assessment Report, rather than adopting the standardizing 100% release upon fulfillment of permit terms and conditions. |

The question on Resolution No. R25/18-7 was not called as discussion ensued regarding (i) the timing of the securities release, (ii) surety bonds, and (iii) the responsibility of property owners and developers. |
||

|
|
In response to queries from Council, staff advised that (i) further amendments to the Amendment Bylaw would have to be referred back for further review and (ii) new trees planted on site are covered under a separate security that is already subject to a 90% release with a 10% holdback. |
||
|
|
|
Further discussion ensued regarding (i) new trees planted on site that are subject to Development Permit landscaping securities, which is separate from the motion on the table, (ii) the difference between a surety bond and security, (iii) significant trees, and (iv) retention of existing trees, remedial action for viable trees, and the Tree Protection Bylaw. |

The question on Resolution No. R25/18-7 was then called and it was DEFEATED with Mayor Brodie and Cllrs. Au, Heed, Hobbs, Loo, and McNulty opposed. |
