STAFF RECOMMENDATION

(1)

That the lease charge for the Richmond Ice Centre remain in the City’s Arena budget, and

(2)

That the annual operating fee which RACA pays to the City continue to be negotiated annually to ensure that increases to the City’s Arena budget can be partially offset and that staff be directed, through the Financial Review Process, to look into the possibility of establishing a formula to provide RACA with more predictability.

That a 60/40 ratio of Richmond residents/others for any public Richmond organization wanting to book recreation or sport facilities from the City be maintained, as outlined in the City of Richmond’s Policy 8701.

True Sport Community Award Fund Allocation

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

That the $5,000 True Sport Community Award grant be given to the Richmond Sport Council to be used to establish a Richmond KidSport™ Chapter to assist financially disadvantaged youth in the community to play sports.

Museum & Heritage Strategy

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

(1)

That the Richmond Museum & Heritage Strategy consisting of vision, goals & objectives, dated May 2007, be endorsed as the guide for developing the Museum & Heritage sector in the City;

(2)

That an Implementation Plan be developed in consultation with Stakeholders; and,

(3)

That a feasibility study be carried out for a potential new Richmond Museum.

Steveston Interurban (Tram) location

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

(1)

That the Steveston Interurban (Tram) be permanently located in the Historic Zone of Britannia Heritage Shipyard site.

(2)

That the detailed designs of the Tram Barn be prepared using funds from the Tram project number 40886.

(3)

That the construction cost of the Tram Barn and relocation and restoration of the Tram at $1.3 million be included for consideration in 2008/09 capital budget requests.
