Call to Order:

The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m.

 


 

 

 

NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING DATE

 

 

1.

The next special meeting of the Committee will be held on Thursday, June 27th, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. in the Anderson Room, to undertake a service level review of the Fire and Rescue Department.

SERVICE LEVEL REVIEW COMMUNITY BYLAWS AND EMERGENCY PROGRAMS
(Report:  June 5/02, File No.:  5000-01) (REDMS No. 727963)

 

 

The Manager, Community Bylaws, Sandra Tokarczyk, through a PowerPoint presentation, reviewed the level of service provided by her department.  A copy of the presentation is attached as Schedule A and forms part of these minutes.  As a result of the discussion which ensued, staff were directed to review the following issues:

 

 

  •        

opportunities for additional or more proactive enforcement (i) around parks and schools; (ii) for emergency related issues; and (iii) for special events, rather than enforcement only by complaint

 

 

  •    

the need for public relations regarding the City's graffiti program

 

 

  •      

the process of enforcement for noise, i.e. construction property (building).

 

 

The Manager, Emergency & Environmental Programs, Suzanne Bycraft, through a PowerPoint presentation, reviewed the level of service provided by her department.  A copy of the presentation is attached as Schedule B and forms part of these minutes.  As a result of the discussion which ensued, staff were directed to review the following issues:

 

 

  •        

how to address the Provincial Government service level reductions with regard to training and temporary accommodation

 

 

  •        

the feasibility of establishing a quadrant recycling program as opposed to having one depot.

 

 

It was moved and seconded

 

 

That the report (dated June 5, 2002, from Sandra Tokarczyk, Manager Community Bylaws, and Suzanne Bycraft, Manager Emergency and Environmental Programs), regarding Service Levels for the Community Bylaws, and Emergency and Environmental Programs Departments, be received for information.
