The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

 


 

 

 

MINUTES

 

 

1.

It was moved and seconded

 

 

That the minutes of the meeting of the Public Works & Transportation Committee held on Wednesday, November 20th, 2002, be adopted as circulated.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

 

 

2.

CITY CENTRE NORTH TRANSIT AND TRANSPORTATION TASK FORCE PROPOSED TERMS OF REFERENCE
(Report:  December 10/02, File No.:  0100-20-CCNTI-01) (REDMS No. 922168)

 

 

The Director of Transportation, Gordon Chan, said that the Task Force could also assist in i) ensuring accurate media representation of the project; and ii) the promotion of support from the business community in such areas as the organization of onsite parking and contributions to the City's pursuit of completing road connections. 

 

 

A discussion then ensued that included the following:

 

 

  •  

that the Task Force could consider traffic issues concerning the Bridgeport area;

 

 

  •  

the Richmond Chamber of Commerce was represented through the Richmond Transit and Traffic Advisory Committee;

 

 

  •  

a discussion of the benefits that would be achieved by the participation of the RCMP and ICBC in the process;

 

 

  •  

the need to ensure representation from businesses located west of No. 3 Road;

 

 

  •  

that, with the exception of in-camera issues, Task Force meetings would be open to the public with the Task Force responsible for establishing its rules and delegations, etc.

 

 

It was moved and seconded

 

 

That the establishment of a City Centre North Transit and Transportation Task Force and its membership and terms of reference, as outlined in the report dated December 10th, 2002 from the Director of Transportation, and with the additional resources of the RCMP and ICBC included as resources co-ordinated through the City Transportation Department, be approved.
