The Chair called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

It was moved and seconded

 

 

That the minutes of the meeting of the Planning Committee held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, be adopted as circulated.

APPLICATION BY KESAR NAGRA FOR REZONING AT 8171 NO. 1 ROAD FROM SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSING DISTRICT, SUBDIVISION AREA E (R1/E) TO SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSING DISTRICT (R1-0.6)

It was moved and seconded

 

 

That Bylaw No. 8467, for the rezoning of 8171 No. 1 Road from “Single-Family Housing District, Subdivision Area E (R1/E)” to “Single-Family Housing District (R1-0.6)”, be introduced and given first reading.

4.

PROPOSED OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN AMENDMENT FOR 401 JARDINE STREET, NEW WESTMINSTER

(Report:  January 20, 2009, File No.:  01-0155-20-NWESI/2009- Vol 01) (REDMS No. 2546083)

 

 

In response to a query, staff advised that industrial uses would be the main component of the proposed development at 401 Jardine Street, New Westminster.

 

 

It was moved and seconded

 

 

That:

 

 

(1)

the Council of the City of New Westminster be advised that Richmond has no objections to the proposed OCP amendment for 401 Jardine Street, New Westminster; and

 

 

(2)

the City be consulted when transportation and/or engineering studies are being done for the proposed development at 401 Jardine Street, New Westminster.

In response to the Chair’s inquiry regarding the issue of the onsite parking of transport trucks in the No. 5 Road area, Terry Crowe, Manager, Policy Planning advised that staff would provide an update memorandum to Council shortly.

 8640 Garden City Road

 

 

The Chair asked staff to investigate whether the property at 8640 Garden City Road could be sub-divided and if a Single-Family Lot Size Policy 702 would be required. Mr. Crowe stated that staff would investigate and provide an update memorandum.

Naming Policy

 

 

In response to a query regarding the possibility of naming buildings, bridges and other structures in the City after past prominent Richmond residents, staff noted that names of people of significance to the community are considered when naming roads, as outlined in the Road Naming Policy, and advised that Planning and Development staff, in conjunction with Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services staff, would investigate the issue.
