Business Licence Hearing Hanma (Canada) Investments Ltd., dba Blue Sea Spa

(File Ref. No.: 12-8275-06) (REDMS No. 2912916, 2849287)

Wallace Wong, legal counsel for the licensee, advised that his client is prepared to proceed with the recommended 60-day business licence suspension.

Mr. Wong referenced a letter from his client dated June 17, 2010 and spoke of the business’ past bylaw violations and noted that none of the violations were in direct relation to selling illegal services.

With Mr. Wong translating, owner of the Blue Sea Spa, De Qun Yang, addressed Council and stated that he has learnt his lesson and would no longer contravene City bylaws.  He spoke of the price of doing business and noted that many of his employees have since left his business in light of the recent media coverage.  He also spoke of financial hardship his employees will endure during the 60-day closure as they are predominantly on commission.  Mr. Yang concluded by stating that his business will suffer tremendous economic loss.

That the Business Licence of Hanma (Canada) Ltd. doing business as Blue Sea Spa, operating from premises located at #100-3311 No. 3 Road, Richmond B.C. be suspended for 60 days from July 1, 2010 to August 29, 2010 inclusive.
