Call to Order:

Mayor Brodie called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

The Director, City Clerk’s Office then introduced the Honourable Madame Justice Mary Newbury of the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and requested that she administer the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance on Mayor-Elect Brodie.

Mayor Brodie then assumed the Chair.

Madame Justice Newbury then administered the Oaths of Office and the Oaths of Allegiance on the Councillors-Elect.

Mayor Brodie then expressed his appreciation, on behalf of Council, to Madame Justice Newbury for her attendance at this evening’s proceedings.

INAUGURAL ADDRESS BY MAYOR BRODIE

Mayor Brodie gave his Inaugural Address, a copy of which is attached as Schedule 1 and forms part of these minutes.

APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF METRO VANCOUVER

That Mayor Malcolm Brodie be appointed as the first Director on the Metro Vancouver Board with an allocation of five (5) votes.

NOMINATION TO THE BOARD OF THE EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS FOR SOUTHWEST BRITISH COLUMBIA (E-COMM)

That Councillor Bill McNulty be appointed to the Board of the Emergency Communications for Southwest British Columbia (E-COMM), and that Councillor Ken Johnston be appointed as the alternate, until the Annual General Meeting of E-COMM in May, 2009.
